Straight Talk About The Future of General Motors and Brennan Buick
The outlook for the big 3 American automobile manufacturers has been part of the nightly news for some time and
we fully understand it leaves people concerned about the future. Quite simply, Brennan Buick plans on being here
for you! So does General Motors and so does Buick!
GM is committed to Buick. As a matter of fact, in it’s plan submitted December 2nd to Congress, General Motors
said, “Today, General Motors competes in the United States with 8 brands. Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, and
GMC represent the company‘s core brands, accounting for 83% of current sales. The company will focus
substantially all of its product development and marketing resources in support of these brands. This will
result in improvements in awareness, sales, and customer satisfaction for these 4 core brands.”
Following the President providing the bridge loan to the domestic auto industry GM made the following statement: “We appreciate the President extending a financial bridge at this most critical time for the U.S. auto industry and our nation's economy. This action helps to preserve many jobs, and supports the continued operation of GM and the many suppliers, dealers and small businesses across the country that depend on us. This will allow us to accelerate the completion of our aggressive restructuring plan for long-term, sustainable success. It will lead to a leaner, stronger General Motors, a GM that is: |

We know we have much work in front of us to accomplish our plan. It is our intention to continue to be
transparent as we execute our plan, and we will provide regular updates on our progress. We again thank
the Administration for this important support of our industry at this challenging time, and we look forward
to proving what American ingenuity can achieve.”

State Trade In Tax Issue
Ever since Wisconsin first enacted a sales tax in 1962, our state's consumers have received a sales tax credit
for the value of a vehicle they trade in. That means you pay tax on the real value of the deal: the difference in
value between the vehicle you’re buying and the one you’re trading in — not on the whole price of the purchased
vehicle without subtracting your trade-in. For example, when you buy a $25,000 vehicle and trade in another
valued at $10,000, you pay the state’s 5 percent sales tax only on the $15,000 difference — for a savings of $500.
The state budget crunch is leading to a search for new revenue. Lawmakers are considering eliminating the trade-in credit as a way to extract $100 million more per year from Wisconsin taxpayers. Ask your lawmakers to preserve your trade-in credit. You can go to www.legis.state.wi.us/ to find out who your legislators are. Then contact them and explain that ... "I paid sales tax on my trade-in vehicle when I bought it. Why should I pay on it again? That’s double taxation, and it would be unfair. This is piling on! Just when times have gotten really tight and gas costs are really |

high, somebody may want to take away my trade-in credit. That doesn’t make sense. If I’m looking for a
vehicle that gets better gas mileage and is easier on the environment, eliminating the trade-in credit
would make that more expensive and less likely. Eliminating the trade-in credit would be a major
TAX INCREASE, and I’m not buying it!”

Ask Bob Williams
Q: I see a lot of GPS units in stores, but do I need one if I’ve got OnStar?
A: All 2008 and newer Buicks come with 1 full year of Onstar service and that includes Turn by Turn Navigation, which makes the additional expense of a GPS unit unnecessary during this period. After that initial year Onstar has numerous subscription packages available. Many GPS units are complicated to operate while Turn by Turn Navigation is easy! You simply press your blue Onstar button and tell the advisor where you want to drive to. The Onstar Turn by turn system pinpoints your current location, and computes the best route. Then the directions are loaded to your vehicle. Thru your radio, a voice gives you turn by turn directions to your desired location. If you need help learning how to use Turn by Turn Navigation, or if you have any other OnStar questions, just give us a call or stop in and we’ll be happy to help you out. |
